in fact, the next time damian goes in to visit, goliath has a neat green domino mask just like damian's. it was hard to make it fit like damian's around the back of the head, so it wraps under the chin instead, but whatever. ]

[wow clem i don't know what you're talking about, damian is obviously super sneaky, you say nothing.

honestly, he's only worried about making sure that goliath has enough to eat, okay. but today when he comes in with his bundle of grass for the horse, he drops it all on the floor when he sees the domino mask affixed to the horse.

clementine is officially the best roommate ever and damian has no words, as goliath clops over to mouth at the grass that damian dropped, bumping its flank up against him. he reaches out one tentative hand and presses it to goliath's neck, smiling faintly.]

[ whoops, clementine's spent the last couple of hours pretty much in a constant state of 'did he see it yet?.... did he see it yet now??', so when she hears the door to the next room over open, she's quick slipping out into the hall.

if he glances back to the door, he'll see half of clem's face peering in from behind her hand resting on the door frame, trying to see if he likes it without drawing too much attention. ]

[distracted by horse nuzzling or not, damian quickly notices clem's presence and tilts his head subtly to just pull her into his eyeline, hand not leaving the horse. and that tiny, tiny smile not leaving his face.]

Did you do this?

[he's pretty sure it was her, but then, duck also has that strange fascination for what he does, so he can't just presume.]

Maybe. [ that was the most suspicious 'maybe' ever, and even if he didn't see right through it, she gives herself away when she adds: ] He's the Batmobile.

[damian's mouth twitches and his smile grows possibly ever so slightly bigger. turning to face her a little more directly.]

The batmobile, hm? Am I supposed to figure out how to make him fly, then?

Nah, [ she says, coming out of pseudo-hiding to approach him and the horse now too. it lifts its nose to whiff at her hair, either greeting her or assessing whether or not it was anything like straw before turning back to damian's attentions.

...but then she's glancing to damian, a little too curious to resist asking: ] Could you, though? If you tried. [ she's pretty sure he couldn't, but there are also very few things he officially can't do. ]

[damian cocks his head and arches an eyebrow behind the domino mask.] If he was a car, certainly. And I guess if I had the right tools, it's not completely incomprehensible to gear a horse up for flight as well.

But even if I did find a way to make him fly here, I'm not sure if Goliath would be at all pleased by the idea.

I don't think he would, either. [ clem agrees. after a second, she peeks his way in the corner of her eye. ] Sooo... you like it?

[strange as it might seem, even the act of simply saying that he 'likes' something is difficult for damian to get out. it's just. not a word that he uses. because liking things is probably some sort of weakness, he's sure.

but he nods slowly and manages instead to say:] It suits him.

[damian considers this answer for a moment before responding.

it stands to reason that danny did die, or if not die, at least come very close to it, because nobody liked to use death as an excuse if it wasn't true. for some reason it made people uncomfortable.

on the other hand while this month had been proving rather irritating to some people, he hadn't exactly observed it to be particularly deadly, which told damian that it probably wasn't the technicians who had been responsible for danny's death.

which made the reason danny felt the need to check in with damian anyway somewhat troubling.]
